Wayne A. Russo is founder, owner, and president of Pittsburgh Financial Consultants, a diversified financial consulting entity serving individuals and businesses in a 15 state area. Mr. Russo is also separately a Managing Executive for Royal Alliance Associates Inc. one of the country’s largest independent registered broker/dealers serving over 1,000 offices. This branch office of Royal Alliance annually ranks in the top quartile in branch office business production, but does so with only 10 registered representatives. By keeping a small shop supervision is much easier. The entire office works on a referral basis. There is virtually no advertising and no cold calling. Reps are taught to build relationships with clients that eventually garner referrals. “We are constantly evaluating and reinventing ourselves,” says Mr. Russo. “This business has changed so dramatically that we can no longer impress potential clients by how much we know. We must instead listen to what they have to say, diagnose a problem, and then guide a prospect into making sound investment decisions.” At that point the servicing begins.

Service does not just mean selling a product. It may mean helping a client secure a home loan or a new car, or helping them choose a health plan that satisfies a concern they had about medical care. PFC puts clients in touch with professionals such as; attorneys, accountants, doctors, painters, realtors, and lawn care specialists. “In a nutshell, ‘ says Mr. Russo, “we want to make their lives as comfortable as possible. We want their “needs” and a lot of their “wants” satisfied. If we help them educate their children, purchase a Cadillac, retire with $4,000 per month income, or get out of debt, why would they ever leave us?”

Mr. Russo believes that one’s past endeavors fashion the way a person acts today. He studied to be a Catholic Priest in the late 60’s, which led to a sociology degree from Duquesne University. A strong desire to help people sent him to the University of Pittsburgh where he earned a Masters Degree in Social Work. Mr. Russo then worked for six years in the field of Mental Retardation. He counseled parents in every aspect of living with and providing for a special child. He also established an information and referral system whereby every call coming into the agency would be accurately and swiftly directed to the county agency that could help. Mr. Russo left in 1978 and joined some college pals in the investment planning arena. In 1982 he moved his office to 1300 Fifth Avenue, one block from his Duquesne University’s roots.  Soon after he founded Pittsburgh Financial Consultants.  After 24 years downtown, Pittsburgh Financial Consultants moved to its present location at 205 East McMurray Road in Peters Twp.

In 1984, Mr. Russo earned his Certified Financial Planner® designation. He has taught in the informal programs at the University of Pittsburgh and Allegheny Community College. Mr. Russo has conducted numerous seminars throughout the years and has published a number of articles.

Mr. Russo has volunteered in many community activities over the past 25 years. In the mid-seventies he was involved in the annual PARC Walk-A-Thon to raise money for physically and mentally disabled children. He was one of the founding and charter members of the Greentree Rotary Club and helped establish and chair their annual golf outing. 100% of money collected in the tournament’s first year went to the Allegheny County Association for Retarded Citizens and the Children’s Rehabilitation Center. Since then he has committed to help with many other golf events, and has chaired the annual Hemophilia outing, which brought in over $50,000 in 1999 and 2000. He is also very active in his Church fundraising for school and community activities. Through his efforts, over $100,000 has been raised over the last 5 years. His current effort is servicing a donor-advised charitable gifting program for the Pittsburgh Leadership Foundation.

Wayne resides in Peters Township with his wife Kathy.
